Homemade Play Dough is the best! It's so smooth, soft and easy for little hands to manipulate. I make mine for my preschool classes using this recipe.
1 cup flour 1 cup water 2 teaspoons Cream of Tartar 1/3 cup salt 1 tablespoon veg oil food coloring In a sauce pan add flour, Cream of Tartar & salt. Add the water and oil. Turn burner on to med/low and stir. Add the food coloring before it gets too thick. It's easier to mix in. Stir and heat for about 3 minutes. The dough will start sticking together and pulling away from the pan. It will ball around the spoon. Remove dough to cool on a plate or wax paper. When it's cool enough, knead it to smooth the lumps. It can be stored in a plastic bag or container and it lasts for a long time! I doubled the recipe for the dough pictured here. It's probably enough for 4 or so kids. Let me know if you try it and if your kids like it better than store bought.
